The iPod 5G is the fifth generation of Apple Inc.'s iPod digital audio player. It is also unofficially referred to as the iPod video. The fifth generation iPod was introduced on October 12, 2005, shortly after the introduction of the iPod nano.

The fifth generation iPod was updated on September 12, 2006. This update included a brighter screen, a search feature, gapless playback, new earphones, addition of games, and longer battery life when playing videos. An 80 GB model also replaced the 60 GB model, while retaining the same dimensions as its predecessor.
